Vintage WWII

Kids aren’t the only ones who like to get all dressed up for pictures… at least not in my house. My husband and I hit it off with one another when we both dressed up as pirates for my best friend/his sister’s pirate themed birthday party. We were dating within about a week, and married within three months (okay, fine, we had know one another for quite a while before then, but the rest is accurate). I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Anyway, several months ago, my husband and I were in an antique store in Cameron, NC when he found an old World War II uniform. It had some tiny moth holes, but it fit him perfectly…. and that was when the idea was born to do our own themed photo shoot. We scurried to several more antique stores to find a hat and gloves for me and a couple of old suitcases. One ebay auction later, I was the proud owner of a 1940’s style dress. Because my husband is in the military, we thought it would be fun to add in the 1940’s equivalent of his modern patches and awards, so he did some research and decorated the uniform properly. I found an awesome pair of shoes.

We drove out to Southern Pines, NC on a Saturday afternoon, where my friend, Kirsten, and her husband met up so we could trade off taking a few couples photos of one another.
