Pirates

If there’s anything I stand for, it’s being honest. I want my friends to like me for who I am, which is why I invite brand spanking new friends into my messy house and offer to pray for the Jehovah’s Witnesses when they come to my door (they never have yet taken me up on it). If, after all that, you still like me, I know you actually do want to be friends.

So, in the interest of full disclosure, I need to admit that when the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out, I went purely to see Orlando Bloom. After that, I loved Johnny Depp so much, I went to see it ten MORE times in the theater (most of those excursions were to the dollar theater, because I was a broke college student). I even made my friends dress up as pirates and go with me once. This was before cosplay was cool. My bestie even threw herself a pirate birthday which my future husband attended. and we all dressed up. Is this Thursday? No? Well, here’s my Throwback Tuesday.

I don’t know if it was the pirate dress or not, but he was asking to date me within two weeks, and obviously I love a guy with eyeliner, so I said yes. He still makes my heart pitter-patter.

So this is the part where you get to decide if you want to judge me, but I still have a very soft place in my heart for all things pirate-y. Which is why a tiny LARP and pirate photo shoot with our toddlers was a very natural choice. We actually did this shoot twice. The first time, we drove to Myrtle Beach, but my poor baby boy was terrified of all the water sounds, so we only to to play pirate with my daughter (which was priceless). Later, we did a re-shoot at at the edge of a large pond, and this time, my son wanted to play. Their favorite bits were hunting for treasure and rowing the boat. Here are our favorite captures from those two sessions:
